The Maryland Deadline for Selecting Lieutenant Governor Amendment was not on the ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 3, 2020.
The ballot measure would have repealed the requirement that gubernatorial candidates must select a lieutenant governor by the filing deadline of a primary election and replace it with the requirement that gubernatorial candidates select lieutenant governors 21 days after the primary election[1]

In Maryland, a 60 percent vote is needed in each chamber of the Maryland General Assembly to refer a constitutional amendment to the ballot for voter consideration.
House Bill 268 (2020)
The ballot measure was introduced into the Maryland General Assembly as House Bill 268 (HB 268) during the 2020 legislative session. On March 3, 2020, the Maryland House of Representatives voted 96-41 with 3 excused to pass HB 268. HB 268 did not receive a vote by the state Senate prior to the legislature's adjournment on March 18, 2020.[2]
