McAdams retires from California Court of Appeal

California: This week Judge Richard McAdams retired from the California Sixth District Court of Appeal. He had served on that court for eight years, following nine years on the Superior Court of Santa Cruz County. In 1977, then (and current) Governor Jerry Brown appointed him to the Santa Cruz County Municipal Court, to begin what ended up being his judicial career of 34 years.[1][2]

McAdams decided to retire on his most recent birthday after realizing that more than half of his life had been spent as a judge. He wants to step down from the bench to enjoy his hobbies and spend more time with his family. Upon his retirement, he said, "I'm so fortunate to have had this career. The people of Santa Cruz County have been very good to me."[1]
