Megan Lake Thornton was the chief regional district court judge for the 22nd District Court, which presides over Fayette County in Kentucky.[1] She began serving in 1998 and was re-elected by voters in 2010 and 2014.[2][3][4][5] Thornton did not file for re-election in 2018.

Thornton was elected to the 22nd District Court. She defeated challenger Mike Sanner with 70.79 percent of the vote on November 2, 2010.[6][3]

Education

Thornton earned a B.A. in government and economics from Western Kentucky University, going on to receive her J.D. from the University of Kentucky.[2]

Career

Prior to serving as assistant county attorney, Thornton worked as an attorney with the law firm of McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland.[2]
