JUNEAU, Alaska: On September 30, 2011, attorney Louis James Menendez was sworn as a superior court judge for the Alaska First District. Chief Justice Walter L. Carpeneti of the Supreme Court made a statement saying,

“I think it is evident that he has trained himself very, very well for the job that he is about to undertake, I am very happy to see Louis join us on the bench, and I just want to say that I think that the people of Juneau and the people of the state of Alaska are going to see wonderful things from Judge Menendez.”[1]

Menendez was nominated in April 2011 and in May he was selected for the bench by Governor Sean Parnell.[1] He is taking the seat of former Judge Patricia Collins.
