Elections for the Kansas House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Merlin Ring was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Keith Esau was unopposed in the Republican primary. Brent Stackhouse ran in the general election as a Libertarian candidate. Esau defeated Ring and Stackhouse in the general election.[5][6]

Ring ran in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 9. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 7 and was defeated by incumbent Julia Lynn (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8]
