Campaign themes

2016

Czerniewski penned an article for the website Daily Kos outlining the following campaign themes:[1]

Economy and tax structure

  • Excerpt:
  • Completely eliminate the income tax cuts.
  • Start reducing sales and property tax rates — or, more appropriately, let the communities adjust them as they see fit.
  • Eliminate the sales tax altogether on food and groceries.[2]

Public education

  • Excerpt: "No public dollars to private schools. No vouchers, no scholarships, and so on."

Health care reform

  • Excerpt: "Stop turning away federal dollars earmarked for health care reform or Medicaid expansion. People desperately need those dollars."

Medical marijuana

  • Excerpt: "Decriminalize marijuana, but do it in phases, starting with medicinal use. This will allow marijuana to be taxed, creating a much needed revenue stream for the state."

Sales of alcohol in grocery stores

  • Excerpt: "I support the Uncork Kansas initiative to liberalize alcohol sales in the state. This is yet another revenue stream that the state needs."

Gun laws and municipal control

  • Excerpt:
  • Constitutional carry has to be thrown out the window.
  • If someone wants to conceal carry, they will need a permit to do so.
  • Gun laws should be handled at the municipal level. Period.[2]
