Michael E. Romero is the chief judge of the United States bankruptcy court, District of Colorado. He was appointed on December 22, 2003, and re-appointed December 22, 2017.[1][2] His current term expires December 21, 2031.[3]

Education

Romero earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver and a J.D. from the University of Michigan.[4]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Romero worked for 15 years at the law firm of Pendleton, Friedberg, Wilson & Hennessey, P.C., where his practice was focused on bankruptcy-related trial matters. During his tenure on the bench, Romero was appointed on February 9, 2009, to a five-year renewable term on the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit.[5][6]
