Michael Winkelstein
Michael Winkelstein was a judge for the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division and the Vicinage 1 Superior Court in New Jersey. He served on Part G fo the Appellate Division from August 1, 2001 until his retirement on August 31, 2009. He was later recalled to the court to serve a two-year term in the Civil Division of Vicinage 1 (Atlantic and Cape May counties) from January 18, 2011 to January 18, 2013.[1][2][3][4]
Education
Judge Winkelstein received a bachelor's degree from the American University School of Communications in 1968 and his law degree from Temple University School of Law in 1973. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1968 to 1970 and served in Vietnam during part of this time. He is now married and has three children.[5]
Career
Before he was appointed to the bench, Judge Winkelstein worked as a partner in the law firm Jacobsen & Winkelstein, a lawyer at the Martin H. Phillip Law Offices, an attorney adviser to the Board of Veterans' Appeals and counsel to the Atlantic County government. He was nominated to the Superior Court by Governor Kean and took office on May 11, 1989. His mandatory retirement date is in 2016.[1][5]
