John Schwartz is the superintendent of Millard Public Schools. Schwartz was appointed superintendent in 2014. Schwartz's previous career experience includes working as the superintendent of the Norris Public School District. He has also worked for Bellevue Public Schools and Papillion-La Vista Public Schools.[1]

Past superintendents

  • Jim Sutfin was the superintendent of Millard Public Schools from 2014 until 2022. Sutfin's previous career experience includes working as the district's assistant superintendent of human resources and as a teacher and principal in Bellevue Public Schools in Nebraska.[2]

Members of the Millard Public Schools Board of Education are elected to four-year terms. Elections are held in November during even years.

A primary election was scheduled for May 14, 2024. A general election was scheduled for November 5, 2024.

Public participation in board meetings

The Millard Board of Education maintains the following policy on public testimony during board meetings:[3]

Rights of the Public

The public shall have the right to attend and the right to speak at Board meetings. Except for closed sessions, all or any part of a Board meeting, may be videotaped, televised, photographed, broadcast, or recorded by any person in attendance by means of a tape recorder, camera, video equipment, or any other means of pictorial or sonic reproduction or in writing.

The Board may make and enforce reasonable rules and regulations regarding the conduct of persons attending, speaking at, videotaping, televising, photographing, broadcasting, or recording Board meetings.

The Board encourages the public to share their input on District issues. For those individuals who would like to publicly address the board shall have up to 4 minutes to address the Board at all meetings of the Board. Public comments on agenda items will be heard at the beginning of the meeting. Public comments on non-agenda items will be heard at the end of the meeting. The Presiding Officer may implement other reasonable requirements for public comment, consistent with the Open Meetings Act, this Rule, and any other legal requirements. The Board may vote to modify time limits or order of public comments when the Board deems appropriate.

No members of the public shall be required to identify themselves as a condition for admission to the meeting. The Board may require any member of the public desiring to address the Board to identify himself/herself including an address.

Upon request, the Board shall make a reasonable effort to accommodate the public’s right to hear the discussion and testimony presented at the meeting.

The Board shall make available at the meeting, for examination or copying by members of the public, at least one copy of all reproducible written material to be discussed at an open meeting.

At least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act shall be made available by posting in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public. At the beginning of the meeting, the public shall be informed about the location of the posted information.[4]
