Mississippi's 1st Congressional District special election, 2015
The 1st Congressional District of Mississippi held a special election for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015.
The election filled the vacancy left by the death of Alan Nunnelee (R). Nunnelee died on February 6, 2015, following a battle with brain cancer.[1]
Thirteen candidates competed in the general election held on May 12, 2015. Since none of the candidates received a majority of the vote, a runoff election was held on June 2, 2015, between Walter Zinn (D) and Trent Kelly (R).[2] As expected, Kelly easily won the runoff in this Republican-favored district.[3][4]
