One of the five seats on the Marion County Public Schools school board was up for at-large primary election on August 30, 2016. Three newcomers filed for the District 2 seat: Bill Archibald, Richard Evans, and Beth McCall. McCall won the seat outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the primary. If she had not won a majority of the votes, a general election for that seat would have been held on November 8, 2016. The District 1 seat was originally set to be on the ballot, but when the filing deadline passed and incumbent Nancy Stacy was unopposed in her bid for re-election, she was automatically re-elected. The election for the seat was canceled and her name did not appear on the ballot.[1][2]

Results

Incumbent Nancy Stacy was the only candidate to file for this seat and was automatically re-elected.
