The New York Increase in Judicial Departments, Amendment 3, also known as Proposed Amendment No. 3, was on the ballot in New York on November 7, 1972, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. This amendment would have increased the number of judicial departments from four to five.[1]
