Only one women left on bench after the retirement of Stephanie E. Joannides

Alaska: Judge Stephanie E. Joannides retired at age 56, leaving the Alaska Third District with one female justice among 15. According to the Alaska Judicial Council, it is the lowest number of women on the Superior Court bench in Anchorage since 1984.[1]
Joannides was appointed by Governor Tony Knowles in 2000 and served the Anchorage Superior Court for 11 years.[2]
