Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a Husband, Father, Grandfather who was born and raised in NC. I have been in the Public Safety Industry for 30+years. I have always participated in volunteer activities such as Church, Schools, Relay for Life, Salvation Army etc. I have been a permanent resident of Bogue NC since 2020 and I have decided to run for Mayor of Bogue to bring about some much needed change and fresh ideas to our wonderful town.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• I will serve with Honesty and Integrity, ALL Town Council meetings will be live-streamed to keep everyone informed and encourage more participation
• I will work to nullify the existing noise ordinance that is a hindrance to residents, churches and businesses in our town. We will fall under the existing Carteret County ordinance which will serve us well.
• I will work to bring much needed services to our town so that the residents will be able to see some benefit of their tax dollars

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about community involvement and getting things accomplished. If something needs to be done, then lets work together and find a way to make it happen.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

I believe the core responsibilities of mayor consist of working on behalf of ALL of the citizens and businesses of the town and not just a few. I also feel that a Mayor should not dictate to his council on what they are voting on but rather encourage members to vote their conscience

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I remember the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration that was held in Beaufort NC. I was 5 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Very first job was driving a tractor in a tobacco field at 8 years old

What is your favorite book? Why?

the Bible, it is the foundation of life itself.

If the mayor in your city is a member of the city council and there's a city manager appointed to handle the day-to-day administration of the city government, what do you believe should be the mayor's top priority in office?

If the mayor in your city is not a member of the city council and oversees the day-to-day administration of the city government, what do you believe is the ideal relationship between the mayor and city council?

The Mayor should lead by example and first be a servant of the people. The Mayor should work together with the town council and ensure that all are working together for the common good

What do you love most about your city?

Being a coastal town, the location is hard to beat. We have a lot of residents here who are part time residents, they have homes here but live full time other places.

What do you perceive to be your city's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Our biggest challenge will be to control growth. Growth is good but must be done in an orderly manner in order to keep our small town feel.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between your city and the state government?

The state should empower cities, not micromanage them; and cities should engage the state as an ally, not an adversary.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between your city and the federal government?

The federal government should be a strong partner that invests in cities, listens to local leaders, and gives communities the flexibility to solve problems in their own way.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the mayor's office and law enforcement?

The mayor provides leadership and accountability, law enforcement provides professional expertise, and together they work to keep the community safe while maintaining the public’s trust.

What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?

Being a father and grandfather has to be the greatest accomplishment ever.
