Campaign themes
2014
Carlson's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "While many in Utah are angry and work to dismantle the ObamaCare, I would like to lead an effort to reform Utah’s healthcare system in ways that transcend the ACA, so that our system will be better than it was in the past regardless of whether efforts to repeal ObamaCare are fully or only partially effective."
Welfare
- Excerpt: "It is my plan to work with Holly Richardson, in the House, on reforming Utah’s welfare system into such a Safe Safety Net. We will do this by abandoning the policies that penalize welfare recipients for working to support themselves and their families."
Education - State Mandated Testing
- Excerpt: "This testing is mandated to take place in the middle of the term, which disrupts the continuity of the classroom. My solution: change the timing of this testing to the end of the term, after the curriculum has been completed as scheduled."
