Richard W. Poynter is a judge for the circuit court of Jackson County in Indiana. He was first elected in 2012 to replace William E. Vance.

Education

Poynter received his Bachelor of Arts in political science and criminal justice from Indiana University. He received his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[1]

Career

Poynter became a prosecuting attorney for Jackson County in 2007. He previously served as Seymour City Councilman from 1994 to 1996.[2][1]

2012 election

Poynter ran against Joseph M. Robertson in the 2012 election and was successful in his bid, receiving 59.8% of the vote.[3]
