Roger A. Alcott
Roger A. Alcott was a judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by former Governor Jeb Bush in January of 2000, effective the following month, to replace retired Judge Robert Pyle. He retired when his term expired on January 5, 2015.[1][2]
Education
Alcott received his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Central Florida in 1971 and his J.D. degree from the Stetson University College of Law in 1974.[1][3]
Military service
Alcott served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1968.[3]
Career
Alcott began his career in 1974 as an assistant public defender. He then became an assistant state attorney in 1976. He continued to work in that capacity through 1984, becoming a statewide grand jury prosecutor with a focus on drug cases. He also served from 1980 to 1984 as a legal advisor to the Florida Deptartment of Law Enforcement. He then worked as a private practice lawyer in Lakeland until he joined the circuit court in 2001.[1][3]
