Ryan Jones is native Washingtonian running to give back to the city he loves by using his battle tested legal skills. Ryan graduated from Southern Illinois School of Law in a shortened 2 ½ years, and received his LL.M. from the George Washington Law School in Intellectual Property. He started a law firm in 2014 in order to help a friend up against a fraud issue, which lead him to handling a wide range of matters in DC Superior Court (Criminal, Civil, Family, Probate, Landlord Tenant, Small Claims), District Court for the District of Columbia, DC Court of Appeals, and matters before various Federal and District Agencies.
  • Ryan is running to create a course correction for Government to better meet the needs of the people it is charged to serve. Ryan wants to rewire the system to empower and uplift people.
  • Ryan wants to use the courts to create advocacy for everyone to be protected, which is incorporated in his campaign slogan of “Equal Access to Justice.” This is reflected in his plan to expand the Office’s Public Advocacy mission and provide legal services to residents in coordination with the courts in the areas of expungements and estate planning, and more.
  • We are in critical and crucial times that requires fresh ideas and will power to implement new solutions to cure old problems
I want to use the law to create a more equitable society that enables more to pursue their dreams and allows all to have a chance to prosper. The law, whether created by legislation or interpretation by the courts, guides the lives of those in a functioning society. We need an Attorney General that can evaluate a myriad of issues and provide counsel and legal services to achieve the desired outcome for the benefit of the District and its residents. As Chief Legal Counsel advising the government and being a part of the government, proper execution of a thought-out strategy to ensure each resident's issue or issues are addressed. This is why I am running. This is a massive undertaking but we have to massively shift to change how society is functioning for the benefit of all. That means we are not prioritizing any one issue like public safety, education reform, affordable housing, the climate, racial or gender equality over another. We must work tirelessly to have all of our matters and concerns alleviated, to give each of us a chance at a high-quality life that we all deserve.
The Attorney General is an independent agency of the District Government that allows it to provide legal opinions to each of the agencies that ultimately affect the lives of residents. The AG's office also has a large impact on each of the courts in the District that create precedent that guides our government and residents.
This means you are using the courts and administrative agencies to pursue justice; providing counsel aspect to advise on legislation; and, providing counsel services to advise the Mayor and agencies.
In DC we must cure some inter-agency issue first. We need to affect the standard operating procedures to better guide the conduct of our officers so they can provide a better product to the residents they serve. We must also hold officers accountable for certain acts against residents when they occur, if unjust.
1) Defending the District of Columbia and advocating for District residents; and
2) Providing counsel to the government agencies, Mayor, and City Council
No. I believe you must have a sound understanding of DC government, but more importantly be an incredibly sharp legal mind with a high moral compass to guide the office to meet residents where they need it the most.
My parents, John Lewis, Barack Obama, Elijah Cummings, and many many more.

As far as being an Attorney General in the District of Columbia I will pull on the ideas and initiatives of Letitia James; but also look to District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Chesa Boudin.

Having access to their production through various media outlets provides understanding of how their work can be potentially effective in the District of Columbia.
No. But I greatly enjoyed From Promise to Power by David Mendell and Barack Obama, and Showtime's Billions depiction of the function of the role of Attorney General as it relates to financial matters.

I want to create a blueprint other cities can use to greatly reduce violent crime and crime generally. I want other cities to immolate how we revise the DC Code and DC Regulations that uplifts and empowers people.
I was born in 1984. I think back to the first war in Iraq/Gulf War. So I was about 6 years-old.
After graduating from college - my first job was as a contractor for the WIC (Women's, Infants', and Childern) State Agency of DC. I had that job for about 6 months, before taking a job with a law firm.
Silent Hill by Kendrick Lamar & Kodak Black.
We all overcome challenges. I hope those challenges in their many different forms have refined me and made me better, and to be an example of perseverance and the ability to focus to achieve desired results in life.
