December 22, 2022: Eighty-six percent (86%) of voters will celebrate Christmas this year. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 33% will celebrate it primarily as a religious holiday, 24% primarily as a secular holiday, and 40% both equally.
The survey also found that, of those who will celebrate Christmas, 93% will likely give presents to family and friends, 91% expect to have a family Christmas meal, 67% will give money or gifts to charity, and 52% will attend church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on December 13-15, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
