December 30, 2022: Two-thirds (66%) of voters expect to be awake at midnight on December 31. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 18% will not be awake and 16% are not sure.

The survey also found that, among those who expect to be awake, 72% will be in their own homes. Twelve percent (12%) will be at the home of a family member, 15% at a New Year’s party, and 2% at a restaurant or bar.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on December 13-15, 2022. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
