December 9, 2022: Forty-one percent (41%) of voters favor requiring government agencies to hire workers that match the racial and ethnic makeup of their communities. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 44% oppose such a requirement.
The survey also found that just 18% believe that, if a company operates in a community where 10% of the population is Black but only 5% of the company’s employees are Black, that is proof of discrimination. Sixty-eight percent (68%) believe some other explanation for the gap is possible.
Methodology
The survey of 1,200 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 17-20, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
