February 19, 2025: In January, there were 25 elections in seven states. Twenty-four percent (24%) of them were uncontested (there was only one person on the ballot).
In December, 44% of the 123 elections covered by Ballotpedia were contested.
Only once since 2021 has the share of uncontested elections been lower. The highest share of uncontested elections was 71% in 2018.
