I am a retired Police Officer (15 years of service) and now a Public School Superintendent with 25 years of educational experience covering Pre-K- University level facilitation. I serve on the YMCA Plano Board, The Texas Public Charter School Association Board of Directors, The Plano Board of Adjustment, and the Legacy Educational Foundation. I am passionate about providing quality, affordable education to the students of Collin College and ensuring that we are fostering an environment where both students and faculty can thrive. With our rapidly growing community, it is crucial that we have leadership that is proactive, accessible, and focused on both preserving the values that make Collin College exceptional and preparing for its future. I want to contribute my skills, experience, and dedication to ensuring Collin College continues to be a leader in higher education.
  • Affordable Tuition: I am committed to keeping tuition costs reasonable while maintaining the high level of education that Collin College is known for. I will advocate for a balanced budget that focuses on increasing efficiency and seeking additional funding sources while minimizing tuition hikes. A successful outcome will be tuition rates that remain stable or grow at a minimal rate, allowing access for more students without compromising educational quality.
  • As Collin County grows, Collin College must adapt to provide sufficient resources, facilities, and educational opportunities to meet this demand. I will work closely with local officials to forecast population trends and ensure that Collin College is expanding its resources, faculty, and facilities to meet the needs of our growing community. Success means we will have sufficient space and services to accommodate an increasing student population without overcrowding.
  • Academic Excellence & Workforce Development: Ensuring that our programs not only prepare students for higher education but also equip them with the skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive workforce. I plan to strengthen partnerships with local businesses and industries to ensure that our programs are aligned with workforce needs. A successful outcome is a curriculum that produces graduates who are highly employable and ready to contribute to our local economy.
I am passionate about public policies that prioritize education, responsible funding, and maintaining low taxes to ensure a thriving community.

Education: I believe in expanding educational tracks in cybersecurity, technology, and industry certifications that align with workforce demands. By strengthening partnerships with local businesses, high schools, and the Texas Workforce Commission, we can create opportunities that prepare students for high-demand careers.

Funding: Keeping education affordable and accessible is essential. I support responsible fiscal policies that maximize resources without burdening taxpayers. My focus is on strategic investments that enhance student success while ensuring financial sustainability.
I have always looked up to my maternal grandmother. She was forced to work at the age of 14 and did not have the opportunity to finish high school. She self taught herself and was an avid reader. She went on to lead numerous non-profits and raised money to build a hospital wing in her sister's name after she died of cancer. She was a life long learner and if you had the opportunity to interact with her you came away with more knowledge than you entered with. Her contributions, leadership, and selflessness are all attributes I strive to emulate.
My political philosophy is rooted in fiscal responsibility, strong education policy, and community-focused leadership. If someone wants to understand my approach, I’d recommend:

Book: "The Texas Triangle: An Emerging Power in the Global Economy" by Henry Cisneros, David Hendricks, and William Fulton – This book highlights how education, workforce development, and economic policy shape Texas' future, aligning with my commitment to education and economic growth.

Essay: "The Role of Community Colleges in Economic Development" Various articles explore how affordable education and industry partnerships strengthen local economies.

Documentary: "Waiting for 'Superman'" While focused on K-12 education, this film underscores the importance of accountability, funding, and policy decisions in shaping educational success.

I believe in efficient governance, low taxes, and investing in education as a driver of opportunity.

Strong leadership means making informed, thoughtful decisions that benefit both today and future generations.
I am deeply committed to serving my community and have dedicated my career to ensuring that educational opportunities are accessible, equitable, and aligned with workforce needs. This passion for service drives my determination to create positive change for students, families, and the broader community.

With 25 years of education experience, and 15 years in law enforcement I have developed a strong ability to make tough decisions, guide teams through challenges, and inspire others to work together toward common goals. My experience in both education and law enforcement has taught me the value of clear communication, accountability, and staying calm under pressure.
I believe in the power of collaboration and strive to create inclusive environments where all voices are heard and valued. My approach is one of building relationships with diverse students, parents, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders. This ensures that decisions reflect the needs and perspectives of those I serve.
I am highly analytical and focused on finding solutions. Whether it’s addressing challenges in education, ensuring fiscal responsibility, or navigating complex community issues, I work to identify the root causes of problems and craft practical, sustainable solutions that benefit the entire community.
I prioritize transparency and accountability in all areas of my work. It is essential that taxpayers, parents, and constituents can trust that their interests are being represented. I am committed to open communication and will always ensure that decisions are made with the community’s best interests in mind.

With my experience in education, I understand the critical importance of ensuring students are prepared for both higher education and the workforce. I am dedicated to expanding educational tracks in cybersecurity,

Good teaching is about fostering an environment where students are engaged, challenged, and supported in their learning. It involves clear communication, active learning, and a commitment to student success. Here's what I believe constitutes good teaching and how it can be measured, along with how I would support advanced teaching approaches:

1. Clear Communication & Expectations
Good teaching involves clear, organized communication of course objectives, expectations, and material. Faculty should explain difficult concepts in ways that are accessible to students at different levels of understanding.
Measuring it: Student feedback, surveys, and evaluations can provide insight into how well teachers communicate. Additionally, success rates (e.g., retention, pass rates, and completion) can indicate if students are grasping the content.
2. Active & Engaged Learning
Good teaching encourages students to actively engage in their learning. This includes incorporating activities like discussions, case studies, group work, problem-solving tasks, and hands-on learning to allow students to apply their knowledge.
Measuring it: Look for evidence of student participation, problem-solving, and critical thinking in assessments and class activities. Regular formative assessments (e.g., quizzes, peer reviews) can also gauge how well students are engaging with the material.
3. Personalized Support & Student-Centered Approach
Good teaching recognizes that each student has different learning needs. Teachers should offer personalized support, whether through office hours, tutoring, or adapting teaching styles to suit diverse learners.
Measuring it: Student performance and satisfaction surveys can help gauge how well students feel supported. Retention rates and feedback regarding the availability and helpfulness of instructors can indicate the level of personalized support provided.

4. Use of Technology & Innovative Teaching Tools
As a school board trustee, I see significant opportunities to expand and enhance the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with current industry demands, workforce needs, and the future of technological innovation. My focus would be on expanding technical training, apprenticeships, and innovative programming that equips students with the skills required for success in the modern workforce.
Ensuring that schools are properly funded is crucial for maintaining the quality of education, expanding program offerings, and providing adequate resources for both students and faculty. As a trustee, I would advance the following strategies and plans to secure sustainable, adequate funding for our schools:

1. Advocate for Increased State and Federal Funding
Lobby for State Funding: Work closely with state legislators to advocate for increased funding for education, particularly in underfunded districts. I would prioritize ensuring that local schools receive their fair share of state funding, particularly in areas like special education, vocational training, and community colleges.
Pursue Federal Grants: Seek federal funding opportunities and grants available through programs like Title I, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and STEM initiatives to supplement local budgets.
2. Strengthen Community and Business Partnerships
Corporate Sponsorships and Donations: Build relationships with local businesses and corporations to create partnerships for sponsorships, donations, and scholarships. In-kind contributions, such as technology, supplies, and internship opportunities, can also support school programs.
Public-Private Partnerships: Foster collaborations between the college, local businesses, and industry partners to jointly fund programs in cybersecurity, manufacturing, healthcare, and other high-demand fields. Businesses benefit by gaining a well-trained workforce, and schools gain additional financial resources.
3. Maximize Local Funding through Tax Policies

Advocate for Fair Property Tax Adjustments: Work with local government to ensure that property taxes contribute equitably to school funding while balancing the need for affordable taxation for homeowners and businesses. This includes supporting efforts to increase revenue for schools without overburdening taxpayers.
Emergency Preparedness and Drills: Schools must be prepared for a variety of emergency situations, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and active shooter incidents. I would advocate for regular emergency drills (fire, lockdown, tornadoes, etc.) that are well-coordinated and involve both students and staff. Additionally, emergency response plans should be clearly communicated, and staff should receive regular training.

Clear Communication Systems: Schools should have reliable and clear communication systems in place to ensure that during an emergency, everyone, students, staff, parents can be quickly and accurately informed. This can include text alerts, automated phone systems, and school-wide PA systems.

Security Measures: Implementing smart security technology, such as security cameras, access control systems, and visitor management systems, can help identify potential threats and monitor the school environment. Security personnel should also be properly trained to handle emergencies effectively and calmly.
Supporting the mental health needs of students, faculty, and staff is a critical aspect of creating a healthy, productive, and supportive educational environment.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): For faculty and staff, implementing Employee Assistance Programs that provide confidential support for mental health issues, stress, work-life balance, and counseling services can be valuable. These programs help reduce burnout and improve overall well-being.
Mental Health Education and Stigma Reduction: Offering mental health education to both students and staff can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Training programs on recognizing signs of stress, depression, and anxiety can increase awareness and provide appropriate responses.

Peer Support Networks: Develop peer counseling programs where students and staff can have confidential conversations with trained peers who understand the challenges they may be facing. Peer support can create a sense of community and help people feel more comfortable seeking help.
As a school board trustee, my goal would be to focus on policies that enhance the educational experience, support students and staff, and align with the needs of the community.
I would advocate for a more robust mental health policy that ensures increased access to counseling, mental health days, and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs. These should be available at all levels and be woven into the curriculum to foster a supportive environment.

The ideal learning environment for students at a college is one that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and career readiness, all while promoting inclusivity, collaboration, and real-world connections. Here’s how I envision it:

1. Student-Centered Approach
Personalized Learning: Students should have access to a variety of learning styles (e.g., online, in-person, hybrid) and support services tailored to their individual needs, ensuring success for all students, whether they're pursuing academic, vocational, or industry certification tracks.
Small Class Sizes & Active Engagement: Smaller class sizes allow for more personalized attention and encourage student participation. Professors should facilitate interactive discussions that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and active learning.
2. Supportive & Inclusive Culture
Diverse & Inclusive Environment: Students should feel respected and valued, with the college fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The campus should be a place where people from all backgrounds feel welcomed and supported.
Accessible Resources: Offer mental health counseling, tutoring, career advising, and disability services to support students’ academic and personal needs. Resources should be easily accessible and communicated clearly to students.
Engagement Beyond the Classroom: Encourage students to be involved in extracurricular activities, clubs, and community service, creating a well-rounded, engaged campus experience that supports social and emotional development.
3. Career Readiness & Real-World Connections
Industry Partnerships & Internships: Students should have access to internships, apprenticeships, and industry-sponsored projects, which provide real-world experiences and help them develop a strong professional network.

Industry Certifications & Workforce Development: Programs should be aligned with current market demands (e.g., cybersecurity, healthcare, skilled trades),
If I were to look back and evaluate the district’s handling of the pandemic, I would focus on strengthening communication, addressing digital inequities, mental health support, and long-term preparedness. Our response should emphasize flexibility, inclusivity, and a commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring that students, families, and staff are supported in the face of future challenges.
Building strong relationships with parents in the district is key to ensuring transparency, trust, and community support for educational programs. Parents want affordable, high-quality education for their children and to know their voices are heard. Here’s how I will engage with them:

1. Open Communication & Transparency
Host Parent Forums & Town Halls – Provide opportunities for parents to share concerns and ask questions about dual-credit programs, tuition costs, and workforce training.

Regular Updates – Use newsletters, social media, and community meetings to keep parents informed about program expansions, financial decisions, and student success initiatives.
Be Accessible – Attend school and community events where parents are present, making it easy for them to connect and share feedback.
2. Strengthening Dual-Credit & Workforce Pathways
Expand dual-credit and early college programs to help high school students earn college credits affordably.
Promote career training and industry certifications so parents see clear pathways for their children’s success.
Partner with local businesses and the Texas Workforce Commission to highlight job opportunities available to students after graduation
3. Listening & Advocacy
Engage with PTA & Parent Groups – Attend meetings and work with parent-led organizations to align college programs with family and student needs.
Establish a Parent Advisory Council – Create a space where parents can regularly provide input on policies, tuition concerns, and program offerings.
Advocate for Affordable Education – Work to keep tuition low and taxes minimal, ensuring that higher education remains accessible to families in Collin County.

By prioritizing open communication, affordability, and workforce alignment, I will ensure that parents feel heard, valued, and confident in the opportunities available for their children’s education and future success
Recruiting and retaining top-tier faculty, staff, and administrators is essential for maintaining a high-quality educational experience. As a trustee, my preferred strategies will focus on competitive compensation, professional development, creating a positive work environment, and fostering a culture of collaboration.

1. Competitive Compensation & Benefits
Offer competitive salaries and benefits packages to attract and retain talented faculty and staff, ensuring they are fairly compensated for their expertise and dedication.
Provide performance-based incentives and retention bonuses to reward excellence and long-term commitment.
Ensure affordable healthcare, retirement plans, and professional development funds to enhance work-life balance and career growth.
2. Professional Development Opportunities
Support ongoing professional development by offering funding for certifications, conferences, and workshops to help faculty and staff stay current in their fields.
Establish mentorship programs that connect newer faculty and staff with experienced colleagues to foster growth and retention.
Provide leadership training and pathways for career advancement to encourage long-term growth within the institution.
3. Positive Work Environment & Community Culture
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where faculty, staff, and administration feel valued and part of a cohesive team.
Encourage shared decision-making and empower faculty and staff to contribute to academic programs, curriculum development, and student success initiatives.
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment practices to ensure a wide range of perspectives and experiences.
4. Targeted Recruitment for Key Roles

For faculty: Recruit highly qualified individuals from both academic and industry backgrounds, focusing on fields like cybersecurity, technology, healthcare, and workforce development, which are in high demand in our community.
As a conservative school board trustee, I believe in financial transparency and government accountability as fundamental principles of responsible leadership.

Financial Transparency: Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent. I support clear, accessible budgets, regular financial audits, and open reporting to ensure funds are used efficiently and effectively for student success.

Government Accountability: Elected officials must be responsible stewards of public funds and make decisions that prioritize education, workforce development, and fiscal responsibility without unnecessary tax increases. I advocate for conservative budgeting practices, ensuring that spending aligns with community needs and long-term sustainability.

Efficiency & Fiscal Stewardship: I will push for cost-effective policies that maximize resources while keeping tuition low and taxes minimal, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education without financial waste.

Open Communication: Transparency also means being accessible and responsive to the community, providing clear information on spending, policies, and decision-making.

Ultimately, government should work for the people, and I am committed to ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, students are supported, and our college remains a strong asset to the community.
