I am a through detail orientated person. A dad to four kids, married and have lived in Farmington for 16 years. I am a structural engineer with 27 years of practice. My work has provided me with an opportunity to be on a variety of different projects in size, location, complexity and duration. Currently I work on industrial projects having large teams of people working together to successfully complete them. I am a professional engineer licensed in 10 different states including Minnesota. I have volunteered my time as a coach, scout leader and currently as a confirmation guide at Farmington Lutheran church, and as a ski patrol at Welch Village.
  • Our school district should focus on three key items. First, we should focus on student success. Students need to succeed in their classroom studies. This means engaging positive learning opportunities that are both challenging and achievable. Each student need an education that focuses on basic core course learning. We need to challenge and push students to reach new tiers offering opportunities for accelerated classes.
  • My second focus is parent involvement. We need our parents to be involved at each of our schools. Along with that involvement we need continuous transparent communication. There should be welcoming engaging opportunities for parents to be involved in their students education.
  • Thirdly, responsible and safe operation of our schools. We need to provide stable and responsible funding for proper operation of the school district. That includes a safe building environment for both students and staff. In conjunction with these ideas we need to look for opportunities to be efficient, along with being a good stewards of the funds provided.
I would like to see additional opportunities for more challenging curriculum choices for students to explore and learn. We also need to recognize the value in helping students learn vocational skills at our schools.
Wisdom and good character. These are tracts that can determine whether voters can have confidence in and rely on the judgement of an elected official.
I delivered a weekly newspaper as a young junior high student for several years.
School board members are responsible for writing and reviewing school policy. Board members interact and work with the district superintendent. The board is also responsible for budgeting for the district.
The constituents are residents residing in Farmington school district 192.
Each student, staff and community member should be treated uniquely as an individual.
I would like to see additional opportunities for more challenging curriculum choices. I would also like to see students able to explore and learn valuable vocational skills that can directly lead to their success in life.
I support stabilizing local funding for the school district, and would like that levy to be a set amount for a set length of time. We should give our residents the stability to known how much taxes they are voting for, the length of time, and with a set levy amount.
We need to push our district to provide even better curriculum that is challenging and interesting. Each students ability to succeed is in part based on their desire to learn, his or her efforts, and the support they get during school plus at home. We should focus on providing high quality, challenging and engaging curriculum that provides the spark for our students to succeed. When students do need additional support the district should provide one on one help which fits the situation communicating to both the student and parent the plan for success.
