Thomas L. Hughston, Jr.
Thomas L. Hughston, Jr. is an active/retired circuit court judge for the Eighth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He assumed the bench on March 1, 1985 and retired from the court on June 30, 1998. Hughston has been serving as an active/retired judge since then.[2]
Education
Hughston received his undergraduate degree in political science from The Citadel in 1965 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1968.[3]
Career
Before he joined the court, Hughston worked as an attorney in private practice. He also served as a judge for the City of Greenwood and as a public defender for Abbeville and Greenwood counties. From 1977 to 1985, Hughston served as an elected official of the South Carolina House of Representatives.[3]
