Thurmond to face Hundley in South Carolina runoff on Tuesday
September 28, 2012
By Geoff Pallay
COLUMBIA, South Carolina: Paul Thurmond will face state senator Walter Hundley in a Republican primary runoff on October 2. The winner will face Paul Tinkler (D) on November 6, 2012 for the right to win election representing the 41st state senate district.[1]
Earlier this year, Thurmond was removed from the ballot -- along with hundreds of other candidates -- over improper paperwork filing.
This week, a federal lawsuit was filed that alleges the state should have sought federal approval before reinstating Thurmond into the primary.[2]
