Lifetime Resident of Upstate NY. Born in Hartwick NY, grew up in Oneonta NY, lived on a farm in Franklin and learned the farming trade when I was in high school. I recieved an Economics Degree from Binghamton University. As a young adult I managed restaurants and turned myself into a contractor. My three children are my pride and joy. Two are still in highschool and one has moved to Virginia to practice Law. I would like to reinvent or reimagine the process by which we are governing ourselves. NY needs to Try Freedom.
  • Taxes IN NY are too high.
  • We are overregulated
  • People are fleeing the state and its because of economic opportunity and lack of freedom.
Solutions not platitudes. Freedom is the answer. The one size fits all program ends up not fitting anyone. Could you imagine going into a one size fits all store and you were forced to buy something there? No one is leaving that store happy. From the school system to everyday interaction with you local bureaucracies we have to reinvent the notion that the government is here to serve us not the other way around. Join me @timfor51 on FB
I don't really associate myself with personality cults. I admire passionate and reasoned individuals who trust themselves and their neighbors... One person that I've spent a good amount of time learning from and communicating with is Larry Sharpe and I feel that benefits me. Another great person that I have the pleasure of interacting with is Thomas Daniel Quiter who is also running for NYS Senate district 52. We explore together the concepts of real solutions and avoid the platitudes that pass for campaign promises from the big two parties .
I have read thousands of books, one that I always point to for my views on political philosophy is the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Midas Plague by Frederick Pohl is another I would invite everyone to read.
To vote on legislation. I will add that I will use my platform to advocate for Cannibis legalization, a less adversarial family court system, pro second amendment advocacy...
Vietnam Military Action ended. I was 7 at the time, and it was life shaping. My family was particularly happy to see it end as we had family members who served.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The irreverent approach and perspective shifting humor. The 7 Deadly Sins of Science Fiction because the issues presented there are part of our everyday life and we are still wrestling with the issues and philosophy discussed in that collection of stories.
Surviving going bankrupt and building an economy that will interest young people
Less is more, In NY we have gone so far down an authoritarian wormhole that our current state legislators are a simple extension of the bureaucracy.
Of course, even if that relationship is adversarial.... :) Though the goal would always be to sell liberty to my fellow legislators and help NY thrive again.
Constitutional Redistricting simplify and represent locally. Gerrymandering has destroyed the ability to rationally represent localities.
I've shared so many and heard so many stories they have shaped who I am and what I aim to do. Please Join in at @timfor51 there are a number of videos there on this issue.
