An effort in Leoni Township, Michigan, to recall Supervisor Howard Linnabary, Clerk Michele Manke, and Treasurer Lori Stack was initiated in April 2018.[1] Recall organizers submitted enough signatures to put the recall election on the ballot on November 6, 2018.[2] Linnabary retained his seat. Manke and Stack were recalled.

Recall supporters

The recall efforts against all three officials were initiated over yes votes on a December 2017 motion to approve a medical marijuana application fee.[1]

Each recall petition in Michigan must be approved for circulation during a clarity hearing held by the county election commission. This hearing determines if the charges made in the petition are clear enough for a voter to understand. If approved for circulation, a recall organizer can initiate the signature-gathering process.[1]

Petitions were required to submit 984 valid signatures for each official. Recall organizers submitted 1,136 signatures for Linnabary, 1,166 signatures for Manke, and 1,154 signatures for Stack.[1]
