An effort to recall Village President Barbara Valentine and Trustees Susan Shaver and Kelly Torrey occurred in Mayville, Michigan. Valentine, Shaver, and Torrey resigned on May 1, 2023.[1][2]
A previous effort to recall Valentine occurred in 2022. It did not go to a vote.
Recall supporters
The text of the recall petition filed on April 25, 2023, by Clare Fryers against Valentine read, "On 07-12-2022 Barbara Valentine voted for a Resolution to approve the village purchase of real property located at 6104 Fulton St. in which she had an ownership interest." The recall petitions against Shaver and Torrey also listed the purchase of property located at 6104 Fulton St. as the reason for the recall efforts.[3]

Proposed language seeking to recall Valentine, Shaver, and Torrey was filed on April 25, 2023. A clarity and factual hearing was scheduled for May 9, 2023, but was canceled when the officials resigned.[3]
