Weed Measure M was on the ballot as a referral in Weed on November 3, 2020. It was defeated.

A “yes” vote supported authorizing an additional sales tax of 0.25% generating an estimated $260,000 per year for municipal purposes including parks, law enforcement, fire services, maintenance of streets and cemeteries, and emergency funds, thereby increasing the total sales tax rate in Weed from 7.5% to 7.75%.

A “no” vote opposed authorizing an additional sales tax of 0.25% generating an estimated $260,000 per year for municipal purposes including parks, law enforcement, fire services, maintenance of streets and cemeteries, and emergency funds, thereby leaving the existing total sales tax rate in Weed at 7.5%.


A simple majority was required for the approval of Measure M.

Ballot title

The ballot title for Measure M was as follows:

Shall the City of Weed impose a Transactions and Use Tax of 0.25% (1/4th of Once Percent) of gross receipts from any sale or use pursuant to Revenue & Taxation Code sec. 7285.9 for general municipal purposes, including parks and recreation, police and fire protection, street and cemetery maintenance, and for an emergency reserve fund? This tax increase does not have termination date. Estimated revenue: $260,000 annually.
