Noteworthy events
Corwin guilty of misconduct
In a unanimous ruling announced on March 14, 2014, the North Dakota Supreme Court found Corwin in violation of the state's code of judicial conduct. Corwin was charged with misconduct after he was accused of attempting to begin an affair with his former court reporter. He allegedly retaliated against her when she rejected his advances. A disciplinary panel recommended Corwin be suspended from the bench for two months without pay, and that he pay about $12,000 in court costs. The supreme court ruled in favor of the suspension, but reduced the time to one month without pay. Corwin began serving his suspension on December 1, 2014. His term expired on December 31, 2014, and he did not file for re-election.[1]
