An effort to recall Darrell Jackson and Danny Renfro from their positions as commissioners of the Wilder Rural Fire District in Canyon County, Idaho, was launched in 2016. Jackson is the chairman of the commission. Dennis Harvey was the spokesman of the recall group. The recall did not go to a vote because petitions with signatures were never turned in.[1]

Reasons the group cited for the recall were a lack of transparency, failure to inform and seek input from the public about service and levy elections, spending too much money, and failing to keep volunteers on staff. In 2015, the fire district sought to pass an annual $250,000 levy that would have created four full-time firefighter positions. It was defeated in an election, with only 15 percent of voters in support of the levy. "The fire district is not going to be sustainable unless leadership changes," said Harvey.[2]

Recall proponents needed to collect 331 valid signatures for the petitions of both Jackson and Renfro.[2] The number of signatures required for a recall election in Idaho is 20 percent of the number of persons that voted in the last preceding election for the office of incumbent being recalled.
