Walter Gooley was a Republican member of the Maine State Senate. Gooley was first elected to the Maine Senate in 2006. Gooley served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002.

Gooley graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Forestry from the University of Connecticut in 1959.

Gooley did not for re-election to the 18th District Seat in 2010, although he was eligible to do so. Thomas Saviello ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. Ann Woloson ran for the seat on the Democratic ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 4, 2008, Gooley ran for District 18 of the Maine State Senate, beating Ann Woloson. [2]
