Arthur S. Weissbrodt was a judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Northern District of California. He was appointed a federal bankruptcy judge in 1989 and was reappointed on December 3, 2003. His term was set to expire in 2017; however, Weissbrodt retired on March 31, 2016.[1][2]
Education
Judge Weissbrodt attended Pennsylvania State University for his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966 and Columbia University for his J.D. in 1969.[3][1]
Career
Weissbrodt served at the Department of Energy (DOE) from 1978 to 1989 in various supervisory and staff positions, including as senior trial attorney in the Office of General Counsel. While at the DOE, he supervised and conducted almost all of the bankruptcy cases in which the DOE was a party/creditor. He was also a trial attorney for Neighborhood Legal Services in Washington, D.C., from 1972 to 1974 and served as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition from 1974 until 1978.[1]
