R. Rucker Smith is the chief judge of the Southwestern Circuit of Georgia and a pro tempore juvenile court judge for the counties of Lee, Macon, Schley, Stewart, Sumter and Webster. He was elected to the Superior Court in 1992.[1][2]

Education

Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his J.D. from the Emory University School of Law. He was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1979.[2][3]

Career

Prior to becoming a judge, Smith worked as a private practice attorney in both civil and criminal litigation, as well as an Assistant District Attorney.[2]
