Ron Knecht was a Republican candidate for Nevada Controller in the 2014 elections.[1]
Knecht was a candidate for Nevada University Board of Regents for District 9 in 2012.
Biography
Knecht is married to his wife, Kathy, and has a daughter, Karyn.[2] He was born and raised in a small town in the Midwest. He has been a resident of Nevada since 2001.
Career
Knecht obtained his B.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Illinois in 1971.[3] After spending a number of years working in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, he obtained a Master's Degree from Stanford University in Engineering in 1989. Knecht obtained his J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1995.
Knecht is an economist and policy analyst, Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (in California) and lawyer who has worked in the public and private sectors.[3] He conducts economic, financial, technical and policy analyses as an economist and he has written and testified as an expert witness in those areas. He now works as a consultant, after serving as Senior Economist at Nevada’s Public Utilities Commission where he worked from 2001-2012. He has been a founder, executive or board member for six business firms and five public interest groups. He was elected to the Nevada Assembly for the 2002-04 term, representing District 40 (Carson and Washoe Cities).

Knecht ran for election to the office of Nevada Controller. Knecht secured the Republican nomination in the primary on June 10, 2014.[1] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
