The Maryland Judicial Districts Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was voted on by the Maryland General Assembly in 1804, where it was approved. The measure divided the state into six judicial districts and established a court of appeals.

Election results

Prior to 1864, amendments to the Maryland Constitution were decided by the general assembly, rather than by voters. The 1776 Constitution required that an act to amend the constitution, after being passed in one session, had to then be confirmed by an act at the following session of the general assembly.
