Mary Day Coker was a judge of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed to this position by Governor Charlie Crist on January 11, 2010, effective the following month. She replaced retired Judge Stan R. Morris. She was elected in 2012 to a full term that would have expired in January 2019.[1][2][3][4] Coker retired from the court on November 25, 2014.[5]
Education
Coker received her B.S. degree from Florida State University in 1980 and her J.D. degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.[1]
Career
Coker spent a year as staff counsel for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and six years as an assistant state attorney in the 8th Judicial Circuit. She then practiced law with Scruggs and Carmichael for nine years and as a sole practitioner for four years before becoming a judge. In 2004, she joined the Alachua County Court, where she served until she was appointed to the circuit court in 2010. She retired from the court in 2014.[1][5]
2012 election
Coker was unopposed and automatically re-elected to the circuit court following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
