| My name is Harry Painter, and I am a staff writer for Ballotpedia, a project of the [[Lucy Burns Institute]]. I began working on [[Judgepedia]]'s State Courts Project in 2013 and now write for the State Desk. I live in New York, N.Y. I wrote about higher education policy for the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy in Raleigh, N.C., from 2014 to 2015. I hold a bachelor's degree in English from Saint Mary's College of California and a master's degree in American politics from the American University in Washington, D.C.
