Andrew D. Owens, Jr. is a former chief judge of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He served in Sarasota County on the drug court.[1]
Owens joined the court in March of 1983, following an appointment by former Gov. Bob Graham (D). He resigned from the bench on November 8, 2016, effective March 22, 2017.[1][2][3]
Biography
Owens was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his B.S.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida.[1][4]
Owens began his career with a law firm in Punta Gorda, Fla. In 1977, he moved to Sarasota and joined the firm of Dickinson & Gibbons. There, he practiced civil trial law and represented insurance companies. He was appointed to the circuit court in 1983.[4]
