Burton R. Lifland was a bankruptcy judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Southern District of New York. He was the former chief judge of the Southern District of New York and the former Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Second Circuit. Lifland was appointed to the court in 1980.[1]
Lifland died in January 2014.[2]
Education
Judge Lifland received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1951 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1954.[1][3]
Career
Before his appointment in 1980, Lifland practiced law with the firms of Lifland, Marcus & Angel; Levy, Levy & Ruback; and Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg & Casey.[1]
