Thomas Gaffey is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 13 from 1995 to 2011. From 1997 to 2007, he was Chief Deputy Majority Leader and he served as Chief Deputy President Pro Tempore from 2007 to 2011. Gaffey left office after pleading guilty to misdemeanor larceny charges.[1] A special election was held February 22, 2011, to elect a replacement.[2]
Gaffey was a member of the New England Board of Higher Education and the Meridian Democratic Town Committee.
Biography
Gaffey earned his B.A. from Southern Connecticut State University and attended the University of Virginia's Darden School for Emerging Political Leaders. His professional experience includes working as a Legislative Aide for House Speaker Irving J. Stolberg, Executive Aide for Governor William A. O'Neill, Assistant Clerk for the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Public Relations Director for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, Executive Assistant to the Commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and Division Head of Recycling and Environmental Education for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority.
