A Reedsburg School District funding referendum, also known as "Question #1," was on the April 7 ballot in Reedsburg, which is in Sauk County. The measure is paired on the ballot with another Reedsburg funding referendum, "Question #2".
The measure would allow the district to exceed state-set revenue limits by $2,400,000 over four years to maintain current levels of operation.
Status
Defeated, with 1,471 "yes" votes and 2,211 "no" votes.[1]
Financial impact
The district estimates a tax increase of $38 for each $100,000 of assessed property tax value in 2009-2010. That amount drops to $31, $23, and $15 (respectively) in the following three years.[2]

Shall the following resolution be approved?
RESOLUTION TO INCREASE REVENUE LIMITS TO MAINTAIN CURRENT PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES
Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Reedsburg, Sauk and Juneau Counties, Wisconsin, that, for the purpose of maintaining current programs and services, the school district budget for each of the 2009-10 through 2012-13 school years and thereafter shall include the following amounts in excess of the revenue limits imposed by Section 121.91(2m), Wisconsin Statutes: for the 2009-10 school year an amount of $600,000 for recurring purposes; for the 2010-11 school year an additional amount of $600,000 for recurring purposes; for the 2011-12 school year an additional amount of $600,000 for recurring purposes; and for the 2012-13 school year an additional amount of $600,000 for recurring purposes
(for a total increase of $2,400,000 for the 2012-13 school year and thereafter).[3]
