Three of the five seats on the Alhambra Unified School District Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In their bids for re-election to Trustee Areas 1 and 2, incumbents Adele Andrade-Stadler and Jane Anderson ran unopposed and won additional terms. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Patricia Rodriguez-Mackintosh defeated challenger Yvonne West-Palma to win another term.[1][2][3]

At the time of this election, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk did not publish school board candidate campaign finance reports online. Ballotpedia staffers requested this information, but the only free method of viewing the files was at their office.[4]

Trustee Area 1 representative Adele Andrade-Stadler, Trustee Area 2 representative Jane Anderson, and Trustee Area 3 representative Patricia Rodriguez-Mackintosh ran unopposed for re-election. The election was canceled due to lack of opposition, and all three incumbents won re-election by default.[7]

The Alhambra Unified School District is located in Los Angeles County in southwestern California. The county seat is Los Angeles. Los Angeles County was home to 10,170,292 residents in 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau.[8] The district was the 90th-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 17,826 students.[9]

Los Angeles County underperformed compared to California as a whole in terms of higher education achievement between 2010 and 2014. The United States Census Bureau found that 29.9 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 31 percent of state residents.
