New Jersey Tax Court
The Tax Court is a court in New Jersey that hears appeals of tax decisions made by the Board of Taxation, and by the Director of the Division of Taxation on matters such as state income, sales and business taxes and homestead rebates. Tax Court decisions are appealed to the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. The 12 judges of the Tax Court are appointed by the governor for initial seven-year terms. Tax Court judges who are reappointed after seven years have tenure until they reach the mandatory retirement age of 70.[1]
