Joe Veracruz was the Place 3 representative on the Duncanville Independent School District board of trustees in Texas from 2016 to 2019. Veracruz was automatically elected after the general election that was scheduled for May 7, 2016, was canceled due to a lack of opposition. He did not run for re-election in 2019.

Three of the seven seats on the Duncanville Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Place 1 incumbent Tom Kennedy won re-election after challenger Rita Martinez withdrew from the race. Incumbent Phil McNeely won the Place 2 seat after he was the sole candidate to file for candidacy. Place 3 incumbent Marlies Peregory withdrew from the race leaving challenger Joe Veracruz with the seat. All of the elections were canceled.[1][2][3]
