My name is Harry Painter, and I am an assistant staff writer for Ballotpedia, a project of the Lucy Burns Institute. I began working on Judgepedia's State Courts Project in 2013 and now write for the State Desk. I live in Raleigh, N.C., where I have written for the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy since 2014. I hold a bachelor's degree in English from Saint Mary's College of California and a master's degree in American politics from the American University in Washington, D.C. I am originally from Livermore, Calif.
