W. Fletcher Sams
W. Fletcher Sams (b. March 29, 1954) is a judge on the Griffin Superior Court. He was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue in August 2010.[1]
Education
Sams received a B.A. degree in Biology from Rhodes College in 1976 and a J.D. degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1979.[1]
Career
Judge Sams has worked as: a private practice lawyer; a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia; a Special Master for the Griffin Judicial Circuit; City Attorney for the Town of Brooks; and professor for Mercer University. He has also worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Waycross Judicial Circuit and, later, as the District Attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit. In 1997, he joined the Fayette County State Court. He served in this capacity until joining the Griffin Superior Court in August 2010.[1]
2012 election
Sams ran unopposed for re-election to the Griffin Superior Court.[2] He was re-elected after receiving 99.7% of the vote in the July 31 election.[3]
