Joan K. Alexander is a judge of the Connecticut Supreme Court. She assumed office on April 30, 2022. Her current term ends on April 30, 2030.
She was appointed to the court on July 20, 2020, by Governor Ned Lamont (D) to replace Alexandra DiPentima.[1] She left the court when she joined the Connecticut Supreme Court on April 30, 2022.
Prior to her appointment to the appellate court, Alexander served as a judge for the Hartford District Superior Court in Connecticut from 2000 to 2020.[2] She was first appointed to the bench in 2000 by Governor John Rowland. Judge Alexander served as the presiding judge of criminal matters for the court.[3]
Education
Alexander earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Yale University in 1984 and a J.D. from Connecticut School of Law in 1987.[3]
