Jim Rice was a member of the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District in Texas. Rice assumed office on January 11, 2024. Rice left office in 2025.
Rice ran for re-election to the Fort Bend Independent School District to represent Position 3 in Texas. Rice lost in the general election on May 7, 2022.
Biography
Rice's career experience includes working as the owner and co-founder of Rice & Gardner Consultants. He has experience on the board of Fort Bend Cares, the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America. He also has a background working as the education division vice-chair of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Board, a member Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council, a director on the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards, and the Region 4 director of the Texas Association of School Boards.[1]

2016
Two of the seven seats on the Fort Bend Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Position 3 incumbent Jim Rice was the sole candidate to file in the race. Position 7 incumbent David Rosenthal faced challengers James Davidson Jr., Sonja Leonard, Laura Ramirez, and Shirley Rose-Gilliam. There was no primary.[2] Rice won his unopposed re-election bid and Rosenthal defeated Davidson, Leonard, Ramirez, and Rose-Gilliam to secure another term on the board.[3]
